At Axis Clinics, your health and wellness is our top priority! Our clinic was founded to provide exceptional primary care services to the diverse patient population in the Twin-Cities communities we serve.
Axis Clinics was founded by Dr. Crispin Semakula, an endocrinologist of Tanzanian origin, in collaboration with a group of health care professionals and community leaders, in order to serve Minneapolis’ burgeoning refugee and immigrant community within an environment highly adapted to the linguistic needs and cultural sensitivities of the patient population.
The clinic opened its doors as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit primary care community health center in 2008, and quickly became the go-to clinic for Somali and other East African Minnesotans. This population continues to grow and its healthcare needs grow accordingly

Axis Clinics is the fastest growing Community Health Center in Minnesota because for eleven years we have been learning how to best provide culturally—and linguistically—appropriate services in a community that endures unique barriers to health and wellness, including recent immigration and low levels of insurance, employment, education, and English proficiency. Our team, our Board of Directors, and our partner organizations, all belong to the families and communities we serve.
Our Allergy and Immunology services focus on diagnosing, treating, and managing allergies, asthma, immune system disorders, and other related health concerns. We understand that allergic and immune-related conditions can impact daily life and overall well-being, which is why our care team works closely with patients to identify triggers, reduce symptoms, and create personalized treatment plans. Through preventive care, education, testing, and ongoing support, we help patients improve their health and maintain a better quality of life.
Our Family Medicine services provide comprehensive healthcare for individuals and families at every stage of life, from children to older adults. Our Endocrinology services provide specialized care for conditions affecting hormones and the endocrine system. Our Immigration medical services provide examinations and healthcare support for individuals completing immigration-related medical requirements. We understand that immigration processes can feel overwhelming, so we aim to provide a comfortable, supportive, and professional experience. Our team helps ensure that all required medical evaluations, screenings, and documentation are completed accurately and efficiently while guiding patients through each step of the process.
